 The Fame by Lady GaGa
Introduction:-
Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta was born in 3rd March 1986, of an Italian-American descent. She is known better for her weird stage name 'Lady Gaga'. In the beginning, Lady GaGa came out of nowhere. Her fun-filled and flamboyant debut single, 'Just Dance', made her famous. 'Just Dance' was a summer smash-hit and became an instant success that will increase her international popularity.
Singles and its success:- You know the song 'Just Dance', right? If not, unlucky you!!! It's a very melodious and an ultra-dynamic song, just the perfect song to just move your butt around and party!! After the success of 'Just Dance', which goes to No.1 all over the world, then come along the captivating and funky 'Poker Face', which successfully dominates the radio airplay. 'Poker Face' is utterly a perfect successor of 'Just Dance', with its almost catchy and irresistible tune, robotic vocals and up-tempo dance beats. Once again, it was No.1 all over the world where it was an immediate success in Europe.
The Album:- She released her ravishing debut album 'The Fame', right after she released 'Just Dance' as its first single out of the album. Earlier, before the success of 'Just Dance', it sold a remarkably low 100,000 copies worldwide. But, after the success of 'Just Dance' and 'Poker Face', the sales of 'The Fame' have substantially improved, selling a nearly 1 million copies in just 2 months or less. There are 12 tracks for the original version, 15 tracks for the improvised version and 17 tracks for the UK and Ireland versions. I got the improvised and believe me, it is simply the most exhilarating album I've ever heard since Madonna's 'Hard Candy'.
Here is the list of tracks on the improvised version of 'The Fame', followed by the likeness scores and simple comments for each song.
Track list:- 1. Just Dance (5/5) - A surprisingly addictive song, always heard this song on the radio. 2. LoveGame (5.5/5) - Loved the lightning beat here! 3. Paparazzi (4.5/5) Heard this one before I bought the album, but where? 4. Poker Face (6/5) Really great and addictive!! 5. Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) (5/5) A very charming and intimate song! 6. Beautiful, Dirty, Rich (4/5) - She wants to be rich, I guess! 7. The Fame (4.5/5) - Commemoration of the disco era. 8. Money Honey (6/5) - A reminiscent to 'Just Dance', same beat and same style but different topic. 9. Starstruck (5/5) - Hip-hop at its best. 10. Boys, Boys, Boys (4/5) - Like the chorus of this song. 11. Paper Gangsta (5/5) - Good attempt on rapping. 12. Brown Eyes (4/5) The only ballad on this album. Also her most vulnerable song yet. 13. I Like It Rough (5/5) - I like it rough too!! Another superb song which could be a hit!! 14. Summerboy (4/5) - A bit rocky over the edge. 15. Bonus Track: Disco Heaven(3/5) A little bit dull for an ending, but actually it's just a bonus track, though.
Musical style:- Fueled by heavy dance tracks and popping electronic beats, is a well-crafted sampling of feisty anti-pop in high quality. Lady Gaga (real name is Stefani Germanotta) pulls out all the stops on 'The Fame', injecting hard-hitting synthesizers, and crashing slicks and grooves. From its opening track until it closes, 'The Fame' fails to come up short on funky sounds to amuse fans of this dance genre. From an interview, her influences on making this album were David Bowie, Queen, Madonna and Michael Jackson.
Lyrical content:- The lyrics on 'The Fame' focuses primarily on Gaga's desirous observations on fame and vanity and using keen, self-aware lyrics. Backed by relentless, heavy dance beats, songs such as "Just Dance" and "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" unapologetically describe her hedonistic aspirations of living a glamorous lifestyle of wealth, drinking and partying.
Tracks like "LoveGame" and "I Like It Rough" provide acute detail of her sexual desires. She also expresses a perchant for softer, love songs on "Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)," a simplistic pop song about breaking up with an old boyfriend and finding someone new, as well as the piano-laden ballad, "Brown Eyes" which she describes as her most vulnerable song.
Fortunately, many professional music critics found her open, unapologetic views on fame, fortune, sexual desires, and partying to be quite entertaining in comparison to more campy pop stars.
Review:- Overall, the album is consistently fresh and innovative. Lady GaGa made a very tantalizing debut that no other pop stars could ever do it. I heavily compliment her songcrafting ability and ear for music. This is a must-buy album. I recommend for you to buy this album or simply just hear the songs at Youtube....believe me you won't regret buying it. If you refuse to buy it, who cares!!
Current worldwide sales: 2 Million Copies+, still increasing!!
Overall scores: 99.9/100... perfect!!!
